Digipak First Draft Audience Feedback

Image
I've asked my focus group and members of my target audience what they like about my digipak and what they think I could add to make it look more professional. Here are their responses. In response to this feedback, I am going to add copyright information at the bottom on the back cover and adjust the track list to make it as easy to read as possible. I'm pleased that people find it eye-catching and are drawn to the colours as well as finding the link between the pattern and smoke on my video.

Digipak First Draft

Image
Below is the first draft of my digipak. I kept the continuity clear on each side by using the same pattern, font and colour to make it look neat and professional. There is a clear link to my music video with the old film border on the front and back covers and the same font is used throughout. I like how  the colours are eye-catching as I believe this will attract my target audience. I'm going to send this first draft to my focus group to find out what they like about it and if there are any improvements I should make.

Poster First Draft

Image
Below is the first draft of my promotional poster. I'm pleased with how it looks as it is very consistent with my digipak and music video. It follows the main conventions of a poster as it has reviews and ratings, the record label logo, a website link and information of how to listen to it. I am going to send this to members of my target audience to find out their opinions and find out if there is anything I could do to improve it.

Projection Footage

First Minute

Image
I have completed the first minute of my video. I'm pleased with how it has turned out so far as I feel it is of a good quality and fits in with the musicality of the song. Although I had to change a couple of my ideas, I think it still looks effective and fits well and the narrative if it. From this first draft I can see what is going well about the video and can therefore make any changes if i feel are necessary. At this point, I don't feel I need to change anything but once by first full draft is completed I will ask my focus group and members of my target audience for feedback, stating what they like and what I could change to make it more appealing to them. If the YouTube link above doesn't work, use this Vimeo link below First Verse and Chorus (First minute) from Kaylee Heckford on Vimeo .

Woods footage with Newspaper

Image
Here is a collection of the footage I took in the woods with the newspaper. I'm very pleased with how this filming turned out as I managed to capture everything I wanted to include in the first verse of my music video. I decided against setting the newspaper on fire as I had originally planned as I thought it would be unsafe to do so. Instead of this, I filmed my actor ripping up the newspaper and throwing it in the air instead which I believe was equally, if not more effective. I will cut these clips and arrange them to fit in with the beats of the song and ensure there are no continuity issues. When editing, I will speed up this footage and add a tint to fit in with the 1930s genre and be consistent with the rest of the video.

Park and Projector Shooting Schedule

Image
On Wednesday the 7th Feburary, I did my last bits of filming. I went to a nearby park that resembled Joydens wood and filmed what I needed with the newspaper for the first chorus and also filmed my actor in front of a projector on the same day. Here is my shooting schedule for these two sets of filming. This shooting schedule was a success as we didn't run over any of the time slots and we used the time we had very effectively. Due to the cold weather, the lighter didn't work to set the newspaper on fire and we agreed it may be dangerous to keep trying as we didn't have full control over where the flame would go as it was being unpredictable. In place of this scene, I filmed my actor ripping up the newspaper to dispose of it instead which we thought would still fit the story well, if nit better.

Shooting Schedule - Classroom Part 2

Image
On Monday the 5th February I filmed the remaining footage I needed in the science classroom to film the parts needed that involved the newspaper. I filmed this during the school day where the room was free and both mine and my actors timetables were most available. We used the room over lunch time and period 5 and had planned what was going to be filmed previously and during a scheduled time in that day. Here is my shooting schedule for this: There were not many problems when sticking to this schedule. The only issue we faced was that the door to the classroom was locked when we arrived so we had to find a teacher with a key to unlock it. This set us back about 10 minutes but this didn't interfere with our timings too much as we were still able to film everything needed and were out of the room in time.
