Music Video Final Draft and Reflection

Image
Below is the final draft of my music video. In comparison to my first draft, I feel as if my music video would be more effective in grasping the attention of my target audience due to the changes and adaptations I made. I believe the overlaying of footage in the choruses are particularly effective as it provides more of an interesting image for the audience to look at and accurately portrays the main characters hectic and disorganised state of mind. The smoke grenades and use of colour in my video are an eye-catching element which would attract the audience further and make my video more aesthetically pleasing to watch. I feel as if I have followed some of the main conventions of music videos of this genre as I have included a narrative that is unique and highlights issues that can be interpreted in different ways which can relate to members of the audience. This would therefore form a stronger connection between the band and the audience which would increase their popularity and succ...

Digipak Final Draft and Reflection

Image
Here is the final draft for my digipak. After sending this back out to my focus group, they had no suggestions for improvement. I am pleased with the progression of my digipak from my original design as I believe I have been able to adapt my ideas into a product that now resembles real life media products with the help of my audience feedback. This product will be able to successfully attract my target audience due to the modern twist on old film imagery and use of colours that are apparent throughout the digipak. I think it has followed many of the key conventions used by Alternative Rock genre albums and will therefore appeal to my demographic. This digipak will be able to stand out from other products as this combination of colour and vintage symbolism isn't commonly seen on many modern products, thus enabling my work to catch the eye of the audience and become popular and successful.

Digipak 3rd Draft Feedback

Image
Here is my third draft for my digipak. I have added a white border around the box containing the quote on the inside left page and added the 'compact disc audio' logo on the CD. I sent thi design back out to my focus group to see whether they had any other suggestions for improvement and to find out what they like about the product. The only constructive criticism I recieved from this draft is to add a website on the back cover. Other than that issue, they seem to really like my design, especially the colours and continuity between by products. I will add this change and show them once again to gain their feedback.

Poster Final Draft and Reflection

Image
Here is the final draft of my poster. I'm very happy with this final product and I feel I have progressed a lot from my first draft without changing my initial design too much. I believe this poster will catch the eye of my target audience and encourage them to want to buy the album. Due to the fact that I have used the same background image and font on this poster as on my digipak, members of the audience will be able to create a clear link between these products and thus gain more of an awareness about the new album which would therefore persuade them to buy it. I have incorporated many popular conventions such as having the band name at the top and in a large font, social media links and a website, ratings and reviews which would show anyone who sees the poster that the product it is advertising is successful and popular and I have also included the album name in a large font to make it stand out to the audience. I included the name of the song track featuring in my music video...

Poster Third Draft Feedback

Image
In response to the feedback from members of my target audience, I developed my poster and created two possible outcomes with the only difference being the colours on the writing. I sent these two drafts back to my audience and asked which they preferred and why.  All respondents preferred the second option as the text stands out better and it is easier to read and generally more appealing to look at. No one could think of anything to improve on them either so I will keep this product as my final draft.

Digipak 2nd Draft Feedback

Image
I sent my digipak back out to my focus group to see what they thought once I had included their improvements, here is what they said. This feedback has allowed me to see what else is needed on my digipak that I didn't think about when constructing this second draft. From this, I will add the 'compact disc audio' logo and centre the disc. I think adding emphasis on how good the album is on the front cover such as 'includes hit song' or 'award winning album' is a better suited element to include on the poster rather than the digipak as it may make my digipak look cluttered and subtract from the minimalist look I was hoping to achieve. I will add these changes and show it to my focus group to see what they think of it and whether they would like to see anything else added to it or not.

Poster 2nd Draft Feedback

Image
After making some changes to my poster, I sent it back out to my focus group to see what they liked about it and if they had any ideas for improvements. Here is what they said. From this feedback, I found out that overall my target audience liked my poster, however the black banner at the bottom distracts from the main information and the text doesn't stand out enough to make it eye-catching. In response to this, I will remove the black banner as it looks too harsh against the rest of the poster, and change the colouring of some of the words to purple so they stand out and conform to the colour scheme. This will allow certain aspects of the poster to stand out more than others and thus draw the eye to the more important parts of it.

Poster Draft 2

Image
Here is the second draft of my poster. In comparison to my first draft, I have added a shadow to the text which enables it to stand out against the background and increased the band name and album name to make them stand out a bit more. I have also added a black banner at the bottom to separate the information with the logos and website. I think these changes have improved my poster as the text is more noticeable against the background and it keeps the main focus on the key information on the poster, making it easier to read and more inviting to look at. I will send this back out to my focus group and see what they think of it and if they is anything else they'd suggest to improve on it.

Digipak Draft 2

Image
I made some changes to my digipak in response to my audience feedback and here is the finished result of this draft. I didn't make any changes to the front cover, left page on the inside and the spine. On the disc I added some copyright details around the bottom of it and added the band and album name as I think it makes it look more professional and reinforces who the album is by and what is it called. On the back cover, I moved the track list around and made the last three bonus tracks so whoever buys the album feels they are getting a good deal with their money. I increased the spacing between the tracks so they are easier to read and added copyright information at the bottom. I made the record label logo and bar-code smaller so it didn't take the attention away from the main information, being the track list. I'll send this back out to my focus group to see if there is anything else I can improve on from their perspectives and what they like abou...

Music Video First Draft and Reflection

Image
Here is the first full draft of my music video. I feel I have followed most of the conventions of my genre as the actual band members aren't shown in the video and it is a unique story that vaguely relates to the lyrics but fits in with the musicality of the song. I am pleased with how it has turned out as it fits the basis of my storyboard and looks very close to my vision. I'm glad I was able to incorporate most of my initial ideas and stick to the 1930s theme as I think it'll really attract my target audience due to it not being a common theme of modern music videos.

Digipak Quote

Everybody's a mad scientist, and life is their lab. We're all trying to experiment to find a way to live, to solve problems, to fend off madness and chaos. - David Cronenberg I felt this quote would make a good addition to my digipak as it links to the story line really well. It talks about how 'Everybody is a mad scientist' which may form stronger connection between the audience and the main character in the music video, thus encouraging them to watch the it more and identify with the character and story. It is relatable to my target audience as people aged between 15 and 25 are still finding their way in life while dealing with the stress of school, university or starting a job and settling into a routine. I think including this quote will reach out to my audience and they'll find a way to connect with the band and their music which will therefore increase their popularity and success. It links well to the video as the character is turning crazy but she is tryi...

Poster First Draft Feedback

Image
I asked my focus group their opinions on my poster to see what they liked about it and what they think I could improve to make it more appealing to my target audience. From this feedback, my focus group have said they liked the continuity between my products and the font is bold and stands out. Some of the suggestions to improve it were to add a black banner at the bottom to separate the information with the logos, add an image of the digipak on it to clearly show what I'm advertising and to change the sizings of some the text to put more emphasis on the band name. I'll add these changes to my poster and resend it out for feedback to find out if my audience likes it and if there are any further additions to make it look better and more professional.
