Changing my Album Name and Record Label

I have decided to change the name of this album to 'Somewhere in Orbit' as it still sticks to the outer space theme of it and will be more appealing to my target audience. I felt the album name 'Cosmic Chronical' didn't fit the overall theme of the digipak and would be more suited to the record label. The definition of orbit is 'the curved path in space that is followed by an object going around a planet, moon or star'. I like this definition as it can indicate how the band are always evolving and the audience will follow them in which ever direction they go. This name stands out compared to other record label names as it doesn't end with 'records' or 'entertainment' which I believe will work in my favour to make my label more memorable and interesting.

Photoshop tutorial for digipak smoke backgrounds

Image
When making the smoke patterns for my digipak, I used a selection of different images from google to use as reference: After researching images of coloured smoke, I had an idea of what I wanted to create. Here I have made a tutorial explaining how I made the smoke backgrounds for my digipak. The image made below isn't going to be used for my pak as it is just an experiment to show my method.

Digipak background feedback

For my digipak front cover I created 5 different colourful smoke effect backgounds using photoshop. I asked my focus group and members of my target audience which one they prefer and which they think would fit in with my music video the best. Here are their responses; Overall, my audience preferred patterns 2 and 5 due to them being reflective of the genre of my chosen song, they are reminiscent of smoke compared to some of the others and have richer colours that blend well together. These options were more popular because of the use of darker colours which make them visually striking and pleasing to look at. After examining everyone's feedback, I've decided to use pattern 2 as the dark colours used can appeal to people of any gender and the darker colours on this pattern will allow my text to be more visible. This would make it more appealing to my audience, thus encouraging them to be drawn to purchasing my digipak more than they would if they struggled...

Filming on the Stage

Image
I am very happy with this footage as I believe the use of lighting, and camera work have allowed me capture some really good shots that resemble my vision and story board. I was able to film my actor performing many theatrical and enthusiastic movements which in turn will allow me to portray this character in an eccentric and crazy fashion which is what I had aimed to achieve. The clip where I zoom out of the briefcase took many tries as it was difficult to set the focus on all parts of the shot whilst the camera was in motion. I also had to coordinate my movements with the movements of my actor to capture one swift motion zooming out from the briefcase to her picking up the bottle. This shot was to link with the footage taken in the classroom where I zoom in to the case to create a smooth transition between the two scenes to keep my audience engaged.  I used mostly mid shots when filming this as I wanted to show her outfit, body language and facial expressions to give the au...
