Poster Questionnaire Analysis

I made the following questionnaire to try and understand what an audience expects to see on a music promotional poster.
My target audience falls within the range of 15-25 and the majority of my respondents (60%) were from the 18-20 bracket. This age is right in the middle of my target audience so it should give me a valid insight to my audiences requirements despite having no responses from the 21-25 age range.

Most of my respondents were female but I got a mixture of different genders meaning my results wont be one sided to one gender.

These results seem to agree that the band name, album name and release date are the most important aspects to see on a poster and my audience would want to see an image that relates to the album or art work that is easily recognised rather than a picture of the artist. When creating my poster I shall try to incorporate these ideas and aim to create a strong continuity between my products.

All of the respondents to this questionnaire agreed that eye-catching images would encourage them to purchase the album the most. This would suggest that people would buy albums when they are not necessarily familiar with the artist if the visuals of the poster are interesting enough, but that people also said they'd be encouraged to buy the album if they were already a fan of the artist, suggesting people tend to go with what they know.

My respondents agreed that they would be most likely to see a poster on a billboard or being displayed on a bus stop or on social media rather than on a leaflet. I think this is indicative of the eco-friendly culture of my target audience who prefer mass marketing where it will be seen by more than one person and on a large scale so it will be hard to miss.

It is unanimous with my group that they do like to see a clear link between a poster and the album cover so I should definitely try and incorporate this into my design.

It seems it is less important to have a direct link between a poster and the music video as there are other songs on the album. I think if it is the title track this may be more favourable as this was not a concern for most of my respondents.

These results show that people see posters advertising a new album quite often which means my poster will be seen by many people including people who are not part of my target audience. I will make my poster as appealing as possible to members of the public to grab their attention but keep the main focus of targeting my demographic.
The majority of responses to this question named Alternative as their preference with rock coming second. This would suggest I need to incorporate some of the codes and conventions of this genre in my poster to attract this audience.

Here, people said the artist name and images and artwork would attract their attention the most with the colour scheme being another important factor. I'll definitely try to make these elements the most eye-catching in order to make my poster more noticeable.
