Chosen Font

Image
I asked my focus group which font they preferred to use on my ancillary tasks as well as in my music video. They know my intial ideas and how I plan for the final outcome to be  and here is the feedback I received;  From these responses, the most popular fonts were 1 and 5. I've decided to use font 1 as it is easy to read and and will fit in with the genre of my video. This font is called 'Andes'. I like it because it's reflective of the 1930s era and is eye-catching to the viewer which will draw their attention to my digipak and poster. This font isn't installed onto my school account and I had trouble downloading it from the free website 'DaFont' to then use on Photoshop and premiere pro due to downloading restrictions. To overcome this problem, I will type in the text I want to include on the website then screenshot and edit it to add on to my music video and ancillary tasks. This wont cause any copyright issues as it is a free font downlo...

Footage from the Drama Studio

Image
Below is a summary of the footage I captured in the drama studio for the swing dance/dream sequence. Within this video I have shown the clips taken with usable footage in them. Although the routine was a little shaky at first, it didn't massively impact the filming as I'll only need clips of a few seconds at a time to overlay with other footage, meaning I'd cut the best parts out of these clips and include them in my video. When editing, I'd speed up the footage and add different effects to make it look more dreamlike and professional. Overall, this filming was a success as I was able to capture the swing era element of my chosen song and will be able to attract my audience with something that isn't often seen within modern music videos. I used the drama studio to film this as there is a lot of space as well as large backdrops and studio lighting to use which would enable me to film using equipment used by successful industries which may reflected within ...

Shooting Schedule 3 - Drama Studio

Image
On the 17th of November I arranged to film the dream sequence of my music video in the drama studio at school. I visited the drama teacher and got his permission to use the room on this day between 12:15 and 3:00pm. Here is my shooting schedule for this day. Filming for this scene was a success however the schedule ran over by 15 minutes than planned resulting in only having half the amount of time to pack everything away as I had arranged. This was due to having not filmed a long shot of the actors dancing in time as it took multiple tries to get the best angle while keeping their full bodies illuminated by the flashing light. I knew I had time spare to do this as after setting up I knew exactly how to pack everything away and where all the school equipment went so knew we wouldn't be late to leaving when we needed to.

Swing Dance Costumes Feedback

Image
For the swing dance sequence, I was unsure on which dress and tie would look the best so I asked my focus group what they preferred and why. From these responses, I have decided to use the red dress and the stripey tie as my audience thought these options would best represent the swing genre and will look the best in my video because of the vibrant colours. I agree with the opinions from my audience as I think the tie will best resemble the quirky ties people wore in the 1930s due to the pattern and colours, also the red dress will allow the main character to stand out in the video and compliment the red braces worn by the male actor.

Footage from the Classroom

Image
Here is the footage taken from the filming in the science classroom. I have shown a summary of what was filmed and mainly included what footage I'm able to use within my video as well as two clips I wont be able to use due to the shot looking too shaky and the actors head being cut off at times.  This filming was a success as I was able to capture everything I had planned which should be enough footage for the verses of my video. during the editing process using these clips, I will speed up and add a tint to make it fit the beat of the song and match the 1930s era from where my video will be set. I like the clips where I hold the camera and zoom in to the briefcase and when the main actor gets dizzy and walks around to the front of the desk after drinking the liquid in particular as these were very close to my vision of how I wanted these parts of the scene to look and I believe when I have edited them, they will look very effective. I filmed my actors doing the same take f...

Shooting Schedule 2 and Permission - Science Classroom

Image
On Wednesday 1st November 2017 I filmed in a science classroom at school to use as a laboratory setting in my video. When arranging this, I first had to gain permission from the teacher in this room to see when it would be available. I wanted to film during half term so I wouldn't have any timetabling issues and so no one would be in school to disrupt the filming. Here is my email asking to use the area and whether half term would be an available time to do this in. After sending this email, I spoke to this teacher in person and we arranged the time and place to film, being the 1st November, with the room being available from from 9:00am-3:00pm. I created a shooting schedule to organise my time and how to use it the most effectively around my actors schedules, fitting in as much as possible while we were all in the same place and had access to the room. I believe I did a good job at sticking to this schedule as I filmed everything I had planned to as well as preparing...
