Inspirations

As I want to explore a number of different techniques and ideas in my music video, I decided to do some research into some music videos that have inspired my own ideas. These three videos have.

Paramore - Now

The use of colour in this video has inspired my ideas as it starts of very bleak and dull but as the story progresses, more colour is introduced into the scene. I really like how the coloured smoke stands out against the gloomy scenery and begins to fill the video with colour, ending in a vibrant setting. The use of smoke grenades is similar to how I'd like to have them used in my video as they light up the scene and add dramatic effect. The majority of my video is going to be tinted to resemble the 1930s era so by using this contrast of colour, my video would look very appealing thus preventing it from becoming tedious to watch.

Don Broco - You Wanna Know

The lighting in this performance video really grasped my attention as the band look to be completely absorbed by light and colour which looks really effective and aesthetically pleasing to watch. I like the use of shadows and silhouettes as well as different angles to show their faces as it looks really professional and the slow motion and changes in speed looks really clean and expertly edited. I've been inspired by how the band members get increasingly more enthusiastic as the video goes on which gives off a positive energy to the audience. I'd like to try and capture this upbeat and positive energy in my video and use lights during the instrumental to make it look visually pleasing and interesting like in this video.

Foo Fighters - Walk

The story line in this music video is very comedic and amusing to watch. The events that happen during the video are relatable which create a connection between the band and the audience which is the kind of relationship I'd like to create between my artist and target audience. I like the use of editing, expression and body language to show the singers emotion as well as having a clear narrative to present to the audience which justifies his actions. His emotion is represented really well with the pace and beats of the song which makes it really interesting and engaging to watch and I'd like to make my video really in tune with the changes of the sound to make it as enticing as possible.
I like the chaotic atmosphere around it and how you can see the anger building up in the singer until he snaps during the chorus in time with the tone of the song. This is similar to how I want to film my video as I want the main character to get increasingly more crazy and intense throughout which is the same idea used here with this video becoming more hectic as it goes on.
